NHS England is the Commissioning body who leads the direction of the NHS in England; they agree the priorities and direction of the NHS and encourage and inform the national debate to improve healthcare. The Specialised Commissioning team are just one part of NHS England and deal with low-volume, high-cost services across the UK. Your role as Economist/Financial Analyst will sit in this interesting and sought-after area.
The Specialised Commissioning team you will be joining is a fast-paced, dynamic and political environment whose aim is to ensure high quality care is delivered by the most capable providers on a sustainable basis.
As the Economist/Financial Analyst, you will work closely with the service review programme team including finance, informatics, programme managers and communication. You will also have a close working relationship with the national programme of care managers, the clinical reference groups and contracting managers within the regions.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Leading on the development and evidence base for understanding current levels of inefficiencies by provider;
- Leading on the analysis and information on current economic inputs on NHS specialised services;
- Leading on the analysis on currency and pricing reform;
- Analysing Clinical dependencies between services to understand relationship on economies of scale and scope.
The successful applicant will be someone with a strong analytical background and who has experience of health economics and pricing. You will ideally come from within the NHS or healthcare sector, but may also come from the wider public sector or commercial sectors. Applicants should demonstrate the ability to develop strong stakeholder relationships. You will also have experience of and be willing to lead and deliver change in this fast moving and changing environment.
