Ealing Council serves the residents and businesses of London's third largest borough and is home to 16,000 businesses, over 150,000 local jobs and by 2019 will have 5 Crossrail stations. We have a dynamic approach to finance that better enables us to make the most of our opportunities and improve the outcomes for the diverse communities we serve.

Here in Finance we are embedding our vision of “Inspiring Excellence” and moving away from traditional accounting and towards professional services, quality assurance, matrix working and accelerating pace. It’s certainly a time of great opportunity and this role promises a brand new challenge with many rewards.

We’re recruiting to this key role in Finance to help us champion positive change and embed a robust business partnering culture across our teams. You will continue to embed a culture of business partnering amongst teams and Service Clients, ensuring that the financial aspects of strategic, business, and service plans promote and demonstrate best practice, sound financial governance and deliver value for money. Specifically this role will involve working across a number of services on a number of projects. You will be overseeing projects with a potentially long lead in and delivery time but you will keep the momentum going by inspiring and motivating our teams. You will also be making sure that the financial aspects of Service Clients’ strategic business and service plans promote and demonstrate best practice, sound financial governance and value for money. Working to support internal Service Clients, you will act as an advisor to Finance and service decision makers, presenting financial modelling and advice. The commercial nature of some of these projects leads to a fast paced, exciting, varied, and challenging role which requires a motivated individual who enjoys a challenge. Working collaboratively with the Finance senior team, you will ensure we make a valuable contribution to the council and our community.

You will hold a full CCAB/CIMA qualification and have a successful track record in working alongside senior managers as a Finance Partner. You will also bring valuable experience of delivering strategic financial policy within a large and complex organisation and experience of working within a finance team that is customer focused. You will be quick to adapt and prioritise work. Crucially, you understand matrix management, financial modelling and exactly what it means to be a business partner. You are a dynamic and highly motivated individual who can work effectively with managers at all levels with the confidence to present and provide advice to key senior managers and stakeholders. You will bring commercial acumen and experience of working at the forefront of financial practice. You will lead, inspire and influence a Finance team that is driven by excellence, continuous improvement and customer focus working within a matrix management model. You will also have a great technical understanding of financial management, financial modelling and an innovative and creative approach to problem solving.
