Ealing Council serves the residents and businesses of London's third largest borough and is home to 16,000 businesses, over 150,000 local jobs and by 2019 will have 5 Crossrail stations. We have a dynamic approach to finance that better enables us to make the most of our opportunities and improve the outcomes for the diverse communities we serve.

This post falls within the Treasury and Investments team.  You will be a technically strong and qualified CCAB accountant. You will have the communication skills to inform key decision-makers on complex and technical issues and contribute to the Pension Fund’s development, growth and prosperity.

Reporting to the Group Manager of Treasury and Investments, you will lead the closing of accounts process for the Pension Fund, ensuring that all relevant final accounts files meet the highest standards.

You will be responsible for leading the compilation of performance analysis reports for the fund’s investments, valued at £1.1bn and assist in the preparation of briefings on the fund’s financial strategy to councillors and senior officers.

You will also work on the design and implementation of improvements to financial reporting and governance processes of the fund and play an important role in major areas of contract management work.

You will also deputise for the Group Manager of Treasury and Investments on all operational aspects of the Investments Finance function, including directing the work of the Treasury and Investments Accountants.

A major part of your role will be assisting in the preparation of reports for councillors and Freedom of Information requests (FOIs) in relation to all aspects of the Treasury and Investments   team so you will need to work effectively with key stakeholders both internal and external and assist with planning the pension annual general meeting.

You should be able to discuss investment matters with experts and non-experts alike, with the ability to communicate complex matters simply and effectively to tight deadlines.

As this role is deemed customer facing must have a command of spoken English which is sufficient to enable you to effectively perform the role.  This requirement relates to Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016.
