Guy’s and St Thomas’ is one of the largest hospital trusts in the country, with a staff of around 15,000, a turnover of over £1.3 billion and 2.3 million patient contacts a year.
The Trust comprises two of London’s oldest and best known teaching hospitals. The hospitals have a long history, dating back almost 900 years, and have been at the forefront of medical progress and innovation since they were founded. Both hospitals have built on these traditions and continue to have a reputation for excellence and innovation.
Their reputation is built on the care they offer their patients and their history as one of the great centres of medical research and training. As part of King’s Health Partners, an Academic Health Sciences Centre, Guy’s continue to be pioneers in health research, and provide high quality teaching and education. This partnership helps them to provide the latest treatments for their patients alongside the best possible care.
Guy’s provides a full range of hospital and community services for local residents. They also provide specialist services for patients from further afield, including cancer, cardiac, kidney, women's and orthopaedic services, and are home to the Evelina Children's Hospital.
I am looking to recruit two Finance Managers. Both posts support the Trust’s Clinical Support directorates. The first role will support the Trust’s Clinical Imaging and Medical Physics Directorate, whilst the second will support the Trust’s Pharmacy and Therapies Directorates. These Directorates deliver services across both the Guys and the St Thomas sites, as well as support across Lambeth and Southwark.
I am looking for an individual with excellent stakeholder management, prioritisation and communication skills.
The successful individual will be able to provide exceptional business partnering support and able to explain complex financial information to both finance and non-finance staff in a meaningful way. They will also be confident in communicating with people at all levels in the organisation and across all professional disciplines. They will have a strong eye for detail to ensure information shared is accurate and complete, and excellent analytical skills to support their directorates in delivering challenging financial plans. In supporting busy directorates across both hospital sites, the successful individual will have strong time-management skills and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
The finance manager will be responsible for preparing the monthly finance reports and forecasts for their directorates, and presenting these within the Directorate and to more senior staff. Also for analysing the impact of cost improvement schemes and supporting the identification of further savings opportunities and developing future financial plans.
I welcome applicants with suitable experience from other sectors and/or accountancy practice in addition to those with an NHS background.
Applicants must be fully qualified CCAB accountants to be considered for this position.
