Our partner started off as an organisation supporting the education of underprivileged children. Since forming their programmes have extended to address issues such as lack of family income, domestic and gender- based violence and psychosocial problems arising from the civil war.

You will be the tenth AfID volunteer on assignment with this partner. Previous volunteers have undertaken an assessment of their accounting systems, processes and controls, helped them move from a manual accounting system to Quickbooks and coached the accountant on day- to- day accounting as well as financial management.

Your role as the tenth AfID volunteer will be to continue building the skills of the finance assistant to improve confidence of day to day tasks and ability to manage the finance function in the absence of the finance coordinator.

They also need support in finalising the annual reports. If time allows they would like you to look at the financial part of grant proposals and read through their reports to make sure they are written correctly.

Our partner also works with sister organisations, based in Pokhara or nearby towns. Your role will include visiting a couple of these to make an assessment of their current situation and if required provide technical support for a day or two.

All our past volunteers stayed in the Director’s home (for a very small fee) for the duration of their assignment and had a very immersive experience. The homestay option is also available for this assignment.
